A virtuous woman speaks with wisdom and faithful instruction, her children arise up and bless her. ~ Proverbs 31:26, 28 |
So, I entertained the idea of homeschooling again. I actually homeschooled my 3 children before. I enrolled them and got their curriculum from Christian Liberty Academy School System. It’s the cheapest (because it’s a non-profit system) I could find on the web. But I can say that the materials are great quality and follow the K-12 curriculum. So, eventually, when we decided to get our children to formal school, they had no problems getting accepted in the K2, Grades 1 and 2 levels.
Back to Angel, I talked to my husband and asked if he’s agreeable to the idea. He agreed after some discussion. I talked to Angel and asked for her commitment to listen and obey when we are having homeschool classes. She promised. As for me, I have to rework my schedule and fit in 1-2 hours of homeschooling in between home chores, work online, etc.
Why Homeschool?
Angel’s books are on its way. I hope we get them soon. Just want to think out loud by sharing what I think are the advantages of Kindergarten homeschooling Angel.Flexible schedule. Angel and I can follow our own schedule of classes at home. No waking her up very early in the morning.
Saves Money. Another advantage of homeschooling is the money we were able to save. The books cost only around P6000. We were supposed to spend P24000 for her preschool. Of course, we also save on other expenses like for uniform, transportation, etc.
Quality Education. Also, I know the quality of education I can give her, not to mention the one-on-one instruction unlike in a class of 10-15 or 30 students.
K-12 Curriculum Compliant. The books we will get are excellent for covering lessons from the Nursery to Kindergarten 2 levels here in the Philippines. That is why my 3 children before never needed to take Nursery, K1 and K2. It’s only Kindergarten then Grade 1. Saved us a lot of time and expenses, considering that now K-12 is implemented in the Philippines.
Fulfillment. Lastly, it’s so fulfilling to know that I played a vital role in laying the foundation for the education of my child. When I see my other children excel in class, I feel so blessed and I thank God for the opportunity of having homeschooled them.
What do you think about homeschooling?
Update (1/19/2017): I'm really so happy to have homeschooled Angel that year. We enrolled her in the community school her siblings go to the following year. I'm proud to say that she's been on top of her class for 3 years now. Glory to God!

There are many available options online. If you want to teach your kids how to read, I used Headsprout.com (now mimio) ($100) and it helped my 4/5 year old to read up to Grade 1 level in just 6 months yata (there were 80 lessons). Then it was easier for me to teach them using textbooks. You can also use Starfall.com which is free.
Just let me know if I have answered your question or if you have other questions.
Thanks for dropping by.
