Create Christmas Tree Ornaments using Homemade Playdough

My kids like to play with clay or playdough. Below is an easy recipe that can be done at home. Be sure to keep it in an airtight container so it will not harden.

If you wish, you can also make a Christmas tree ornament out of it. Add a pinch of cinnamon to give it a sweet smell. Flatten the dough to about 1/4 inch then use cookie cutters or just shape it to whatever you like i.e. star, circle, Christmas tree, wreath, cross. Don't forget to pinch a small hole where you will put later the string for hanging. Leave it out to air dry / harden. Alternatively, you can bake it in the oven for a few minutes. Afterward, you can paint it to make it more colorful.

Homemade Playdough

* 1 cup of flour
* 1/2 cup of salt
* 1 cup of water
* 1 teaspoon of vegetable oil
* 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
* A few drops of food coloring

Just mix all these ingredients together in a cooking pot and set over medium heat while stirring constantly until the mixture becomes a ball. This should only take a few minutes.

Then remove it from the stove and place the ball on the counter and begin kneading the ball. (Be careful, the ball will be warm from the stove).

Knead for 1 to 2 minutes, then let it cool.
