10 Sideline Jobs for Extra Income From Home

There is the impression that stay-at-home moms have a lot of free time. But the truth of the matter is, stay at home moms are quite busy, especially if they have kids to take care of. There are house chores to do, cooking, laundry and even tutoring or homeschooling the kids. I remember that I only had the chance to do some part-time work when my kids began going to school.

Now, if you have some extra time to use to earn some income, what would you do? For me, it was best to find a source of income that would not require me to leave the house for practical reasons. Well, it's good to know that there is a lot of work at home opportunities. Even if you just have a few hours to spare, you can earn extra money from home.

Take a look at these suggestions to start earning money at home during your free time. I actually have earned from home using 5 of the 10 suggestions on this list.

1. Freelancing

The internet and associated technologies have opened up a lot of work opportunities from home. If you have skills in writing, creating graphics, building websites, or voiceover work, there is a lot of work available out there for a freelancer.

First, you just need to know what skills you have. For sure, someone out there needs your services. Check out freelance websites like Upwork, Fiverr or Virtual Coworker to get started.

2. Telemarketing

This type of work is not my cup of tea, but it may be something that you may want to try and actually like. If you have a telephone and internet connection at home, then your home can be a telemarketing headquarter. There are employers looking for callers. If you have a nice voice and you can handle pressure and rejection, telemarketing may be a flexible way for you to earn some money.

3. Grow and sell vegetables

Some people are just naturally good at growing plants. In that case, why not grow your own vegetables and sell them. Even if you don't have a big space, you can still grow vegetables. Vertical gardening and small container gardening are so popular these days.

When it comes to selling your produce, you might have to leave home to do this. But there's a workaround so you don't have to. Just ask somebody else to do the selling for you.

4. Make and sell scrapbooks

If you are crafty enough to make a custom scrapbook, you could make some and sell them to those who do not have the skill or the patience to do so. You only need a few supplies to get started.

You could offer your scrapbooking service to family and friends for starters. If you could get enough referrals, you can have a business running without additional advertising. There are also people who sell blank scrapbooks, wedding guest books, memory scrapbooks online such as in Etsy.

5. Data Encoding

Data encoding jobs may be paid for each entry or by the hour. Per entry pay is a great as you can spend a few spare minutes to work. It's super flexible and can be done on your own schedule. .

6. Tutoring

There is still a demand for tutors these days even with the vast amount of study helps and videos available online. If you could teach subjects like Algebra, Geometry or Physics, even reading and writing to beginner students, you could offer tutorial services at your home. You don't need to set aside a lot of time for this, even if it's just your free time, you can earn handsome pay.

7. Translate

Do you know a second language? Many opportunities await you as translating conversations and documents are available. Large companies and government agencies require translators to have certification, but that is not necessary for some jobs like translating a love letter or a Skype conversation.

8. Rent out a room

Do you have an extra room to spare, why not rent it out? Just be sure to find a good person to rent your room and he/she can help you cover some bills.

9. Host a party

I know some people earn extra by hosting parties, such as for Tupperware, candles, and other types of products, in their own homes. Just know what goes on behind the scenes so you can have successful parties. Or you can just allow your friends to use your place as a party location in exchange for a percentage of the profits.

10. Sell ad space on a personal blog

Nowadays, it's not that difficult to create a blog. If you already have one, you can put ads and earn money. You can either sell the ad space directly or sign up with Google Adsense. If your registration is accepted by Google, your blog can show Google ads and earn money when someone clicks on the ad. This may sound easy, but it requires work and many do not quite succeed at it.

If there's a need for you to get a second source of income, even if just on your spare time, consider these sideline gigs. Find one that you would like doing and would fit your skills and availability.
