Wedding Celebration at Nature's Village Resort in Bacolod

Last December 2015, my family went to Bacolod City for the first time to attend the wedding of my brother. All of us, especially the kids, were excited.

We are very grateful to our brother and his wife for shouldering all our travel expenses, which included the airplane tickets and hotel accommodation. The all-expense paid vacation for 2 days and 2 nights was really such a big blessing.

We took the last plane flight from Manila to Bacolod on December 4. It was just about an hour travel, but the flight was delayed so we arrived at about 10 pm in Bacolod. My brother fetched us at the airport and took us to Nature’s Village Resort, which was only 15-minutes drive.

Since it was already late, we went straight to our hotel room. Our three daughters, Kristel, Janel and Angel, stayed with us in a bedroom with a queen-sized bed plus extra bed. Our two sons slept with their grandfather “lolo.”

The girls were glad to stay in the hotel. Before we went to sleep, we had some bloopers. Kristel opened the door lock using the key card. She also put the key card in the pouch near the door to turn on the lights, then she quickly removed it. Angel went inside the bathroom then the lights turned off. She cried a little bit out of surprise I guess. So, Kristel put the key card again and removed it. And it happened again that the lights went out. It was only then that we realized that the key card should be left in the pouch to keep the electric power in the room turned on.

We had a good night's sleep because the room was air-conditioned and the bed was really soft. We woke up to a beautiful morning. It is the day of my brother’s wedding. Now, we will have the chance to get a better view of the resort.

After taking our baths, we went down to Nature’s Village restaurant to have our complimentary breakfast. The breakfast buffet included steamed rice, corned beef, daing, sunny side up eggs, fresh fruits, bread, butter, jam, brewed coffee or Milo. It was okay, okay. I like the brewed coffee, but too bad for me, it triggered stomach acidity. The girls had mixed cereals and fresh milk, but I don’t recommend it because it’s just ordinary cereals with fresh milk and is not worth the price.

After breakfast, the two little girls went to the bride’s room to dress up. They are flower girls and I’m sure they were excited to have their make-up and hair fixed. Soon, we were all ready for the wedding ceremony.

I think my brother and his bride made a wise decision in choosing Nature’s Village Resort Hotel as their wedding venue. The place for the wedding ceremony had a simple but pretty decoration. It is in an open-air space with a roof between the hotel and the restaurant. I don’t think it’s the Padre Pio Pavilion, the wedding venue that is advertised in the Nature’s Village Resort website.

Beyond this area is a big lawn with a gazebo. I saw my dad, my brother and his best man shooting some videos in this area before the wedding.  With this natural view and ambiance, we enjoyed the cool, fresh air while the wedding was ongoing.

Only a few family and friends were invited to the wedding ceremony, so it was quite solemn and cozy. I like the Pastor’s exhortation and message for the couple regarding their marriage vows. The uttered Word of God served as a gentle reminder for the rest of us, too.

After the ceremony, the reception was held in a private air-conditioned hall on the second floor of the Nature’s Village Resort restaurant. The place had a simple decoration and table setting. The buffet menu included soup, salad, 2 pasta dishes, 3 viands plus lechon and rice. The desserts served included leche flan and mango graham cake, I think.

The reception program was not long; it just included the essential wedding traditions like cutting the cake, throwing the bride’s bouquet, putting on the garter and the releasing of the doves. Of course, there were some speeches by family and friends. The party ended with the viewing of the prenuptial videos and more photo and selfie sessions.

This ends the story of the wedding event that we attended, but certainly not the end of our stay in Bacolod. I will share in a second post my additional review of Nature’s Village Resort.
