We bought 2 Standard industrial stand fans, one broke in less than a year while the other one is still working. We bought 1 Union desk fan and this one lasted 2 years. Then, we bought 1 Dowell stand fan because of a sale but then it was defective within one month. We brought it to their service center, they got it fixed but then the entire head (with the fan blade) of the fan flew off (nasira ang hinang).
It’s a good thing nobody was hurt in our family. The service center got it fixed but it only worked 1 or 2 months, I think. Then, we bought 1 Hanabishi desk fan but it only worked 3 or 4 months. We actually rarely used it but still it broke.
What’s wrong with the quality of electric fans nowadays? We thought that these brands are good quality because they’ve been around for years. Our uncle who is an electrician said that it’s because of the thermostat or fuse of the fan which is necessary to guard against overheating and fire.
To supplement the only 1 fan we have in the house 2 weeks ago, we bought another brand, Asahi. I hope this one will last long. I must admit the fans we have bought have prices ranging from P900 – P1600. They’re not the really expensive ones. I wanted to buy the more expensive one but my husband declined. Is it really better to buy the more expensive brands or models?
The point of this post, aside from the rant, is to ask what brand of electric fan you are using and which one you actually recommend? If you have bought recently (2-5 years) those available in the market and it’s still working now I would like to know what brand. I want to be specific in asking because units bought about 10 years ago, the old fans, are known to be more durable.

Update: Thanks to some helpful comments I got from FB, particularly about industrial fans. Next time, I will avoid the industrial fans because they tend to overheat more and they actually consume more energy. Also, thanks to the electrician my sister-in-law recommended because the fans worked great. Now, I know who to look for when needing electric fan repair.

By the way, I searched online what features we should be looking for when choosing an electric fan. Here are the recommendations:
1. Safety- the fan should have a UL listing and must be certified
2. Ease of use- Though we usually buy a fan that is ready to use, some fans are to be assembled or may be installed like ceiling fans. Be sure to choose fans that are easy to carry, fix, and assemble the parts.
3. Low-Noise level- No one wants a loud fan that interrupts their sleep or makes too much noise in a quiet room. So, as much as possible, test a fan on display in the shop if you like how it sounds.
4. The size and number of fan blades - Lately, there have been many fans with different fan blades options available on the market. Which ones are better?
In the case of ceiling fans, the fan's blades need to be wide enough, so that they can cover a wider area. Fans with 5 or more blades used to be thought of as better, but now those with 3 blades seem to have better performance because they can operate silent enough, and can move faster for better air circulation with less pressure on the motor and less power consumption.
I hope this additional information will help you find a good type and brand of an electric fan.

The electric fan that we are using now is a hand-me-down from my parents and I can’t tell the brand because this is old and the printed letters have faded and the cover at the center is nowhere to be found lol. But it’s still doing its work, lucky for us. I just hope it won’t give up too soon.
5 years ago I bought two fans for P1650. It was a buy one/take one promo. The fans are Zeus Home Brand. Obviously, not a "Name" brand product, but both have worked well even after I damaged both blades. Once when I was moving one of the fans my finger slipped through the guard and the blade hit my finger. Ouch! The blade was bent. Then a few months later I was walking past the other fan and the drawstring on my shorts got sucked into the fan and bent that blade. I just used my hammer to straighten out both blades and the fans continue to run without any problems.
Years ago name brand products meant they were actually made someplace other than China. Now many so-called name brand products are made in China. People think Apple's i-Phone is a name brand product from the USA but the truth is that most of their product line comes from China. Personally, I believe i-Phones are grossly overpriced and it is only advertising that sells their products. My Huawei phone has a better camera and screen than an i-Phone and it was 60% less expensive than a comparable featured i-Phone. Many companies (Samsung, LG, Canon, GE, etc.) have some of their products manufactured in China.
I have two Kolin air-con units that were manufactured in Thailand. Both have worked well. One is 5 years old and the other is 2 years old. Why did I decide to purchase the Kolin brand? I took the time to read reviews from actual customers who had purchased these products. Price was a consideration, but value is also dependent on the service life of the product.
Customer reviews are very important in my decisions when making a purchase. I mean, real customer reviews that offer complete information (Price, longevity, origin, power consumption, ease of cleaning, service availability, etc.) as opposed to a review that says, "Uh, I think it was an XYZ brand, but I am not sure."
Here is my feedback about different brand of fan:
Asahi – Great motor but the plastics cracks thru time wall fan 16″ 2010, still working and strong. Another Asahi
stand fan still working and strong. Remember regular cleaning.
Nikon – Great motor, heat on the motor is less, because it has bigger fins inside. Needs regular oiling (fan since
2009 )
Camel – Wall fan Great motor but the plastics and grill are soft, probably because this was bought at 900 peso in
2011. Still working blowing strong but no more oscilation. Stand fan same as previous but bought it

Fukuda – Stand fan model 2013 december worth 1,200 pesos, great no problems just regular cleaning.
Same model but bought it March 2014 at 900 pesos, Terrible as the oscilation keeps on breaking 4 times brough it to Fukuda service center at cubao ( Farmers wet market area). Eventually the technician changed the osilator motor with a good one. But still Motor almost give way on its 14 month of service. But fortunately I disassembled it like the you tube above and is not working. Please take note the 2013 model and the 2014 model has different design internally. That is why there where able to sell the 2014 fan cheap. Lesson is cheap isn’t better.
3d Turbo – This is 18″ industrial fan 125 watts, great, bought is 2013, no issues just regular dusting and sometimes oil a bit. Since 2013 I have only oiled this unit twice without opeing the motor.
KDK – good fan still blows strong and good osciallation about give or take 90 degrees. (2007)
Hannabishi – deskfan almost like ACE but still I will lean towards Ace if its for small fans. (2008)
Ace – 40 watts deskfan. I have really abused this little sucker, Seldom clean it, in its 5 years of service. Probably 3 times in 5 years, oiled it twice. But this old faithfull still works no problem, blows great, oscilation good.
By the way, when you say Ace, does it mean Ace Hardware’s brand of electric fan?

Bought in 2009 and still currently being used daily. It's been a decade. But I'm not sure if the brand still exists.
Used hanabishi and nova fan 1yr 5mos lang tinatagal mahina na motor.
Now I'm using ASAHI na rin 1yr na sya sa akin and working great pa rin. Planning to buy yung mga tig 3000 nila ngayon. For me sobrang tatag ng motor nila makapal yung cables and tama lang yung kapal ng metals unlike sa hanabishi.
The Cool Air needed repair also this year - the motor would run but the blades would not oscillate. So thats almost 10 years where it was working well. I also had it repaired this June.
A Camel stand fan, purchased in 2015 I think, from Anson’s, working very well until this year. The number 1 speed was very good, it has slowed down, and the number 2 speed also. Maybe it’s from overuse this year as we are all still at home on General quarantine and it’s on almost 12 hours a day. We only turn it off during lunch, when my mom takes a nap, and during dinner. Then on again for an hour or two until bedtime.
The worst fan we ever had - the Hanabishi. Been very lucky with Standard, 3D, Dowell, Panasonic, Cool Air, and Camel.

as for our present brand kdk is the brand to beat. never had any issue with it. never placec any oil in it. my only issue is the design.
we have also asahi and union. both have undergone repairs. union is one brand i wouldn't consider re-purchasing again
. i actually have four union fans. they heat up pretty fast. and you can only bring them for repairs at ace hardware, at the place of purchase. i tried having it repaired at a different service center but they flatly refused me...
